Meet Emily
I hold a Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego and a Master of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Miami University in 2001.
My professional path began in neuroimaging research, where I developed a strong foundation in understanding the brain and the science behind human behavior. In 2012, I transitioned completely into clinical work, drawn to the depth and meaning of direct therapeutic relationships.
Over the years, I have worked across multiple levels of mental health care, including Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), outpatient hospital settings, and private practice. This range of experience allows me to support clients facing both acute distress and longstanding, deeply rooted patterns. I am particularly attuned to working with individuals who carry significant responsibility, hold themselves to high standards, and may appear composed externally while navigating considerable internal pressure.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure Therapy. I offer Internal Family Systems (IFS) as an alternative therapy. My approach integrates structure and skill-building with deeper insight-oriented work, tailored to each client’s needs.
